You are eligible to apply if you are a Wheatbelt based business (as per the Wheatbelt Development Commission map) with an ABN and you meet the judging criteria for your nominated category. You can enter in more than one category.

How to Enter – Please read before entering

Entry Checklist

Tick  Determine if you are eligible (see above).

Tick  Complete an online Submission (scroll down to the link below) by addressing the Selection Criteria relevant to your submission. Your Submission must address the performance of your business against the Selection Criteria for the Award(s) applied for. If you believe a specific criterion is not applicable to you, please state the reason(s) in the space allocated for that criterion. Ensure you have answered the question in your responses.

Tick  Your submission needs to be succinct and not exceed the maximum allowed word count. The fields will have word count restrictions so ensure you answer the question within the given restrictions.

Tick  You may include an additional four instances of supporting documentation (uploads) in your application. This could include business brochures, planning documents, advertising, customer feedback, graphics and logos. Supporting documents can be uploaded with your online application in AwardForce by clicking on the Attachments tab

Tick  Submit application online at Wheatbelt Business Excellence Awards Application (scroll down to the link below).

Tick  You may enter in more than one category. To do this, use the copy button to create a duplicate submission and select a different category.

Tick  You do not need to submit an entry for Young Entrepreneur, Excellence in Innovation, or Business of the Year. These awards will be selected from all finalists.

Tick  Finalists will be notified of their success prior to the commencement of judging.

Award Categories

The Caroline Robinson Start Up Business

The business must have been trading for a maximum of two years at the time of applying, no limit on the number of employees.

Owner Operator Business

The business must be an owner operator business (up to two owners, with no employees other than themselves). They can be home-based or operate from a a commercial premises.

Stumpys Gateway Roadhouse Business (1-4 Employees)

The business must employ between one and four employees  full-time or equivalent*, other than the owner, at the time of your application.

Business with 5-10 Employees

The business must employ five to ten employees full-time or equivalent* at the time of your application.

AusIndustry Business with 11 plus Employees

The business must employ eleven plus employees full-time or equivalent* at the time of your application (no maximum number).

DPIRD - Excellence in Food and Beverage Manufacturing

This award is sponsored by Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. The business must use raw produce to create a processed food or beverage.

To work out your full-time equivalent number of employees, add up the total hours worked by all employees and divide by 37.5 to give you the number of full-time equivalents, then pick the category relevant to that number. For example, if you have 7 employees each working 20 hours a week, that is the equivalent of 3.7 (so round up to 4) full time employees. You would enter in the business with 1-4. 

Avon Valley Toyota Franchise Business

The business must be part of a franchise and carry out all business activities in-line with the requirements of their franchise agreement.

Wheatbelt Development Commission Aboriginal Business

The The Wheatbelt Development Commission Aboriginal Business Award is judged from all the entrants who have addressed the Criterion and have at least 50 percent Indigenous ownership, be registered with Supply Nation and be established for commercial enterprise.

WBN Community Organisation (Not-for-Profit)

Recognises business practice within a non profit organisation. The award is open to all Wheatbelt incorporated non profit organisations.

Team Engagement and Workplace Culture

Your business must be an employer and you will need to demonstrate an award-winning team environment and employee culture.

Digit Young Entrepreneur of the Year

Young Entrepreneur of the Year is judged from all entrants of categories who have addressed the Criterion and the owner/s are under 30 years of age in the calendar year.

Digit Excellence in Innovation Award

Excellence in Innovation is judged from all entrants of categories who have addresses the Criterion and has achieved measurable success and/or made significant contributions to their industry through the introduction or improvement of an idea, method, technology, process or application.

Bruce Rock Engineering Business of the Year
